Chessel Surgery was recently inspected by the CQC and they have rated the practice as inadequate and issued warning notices that the practice must comply with.
What does this mean? This means that the CQC have identified issues with leadership and governance at this practice which need urgent attention. Importantly, this should not impact on your access to a GP for routine or emergency appointments. In the event you need health assistance and you are not able to get through to the surgery, please phone 111.
Over the next few weeks, the Southampton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) who are responsible for our GP service, will be working very closely with the practice to facilitate rapid changes to improve the leadership and governance processes. In addition to this, the practice has two weeks to produce an action plan outlining how these issues will be addressed.
The CCG have the power to terminate the contract IMH have to run this practice and if this proves necessary, they will invite a new partner to run the practice ensuring as little disruption for patients as possible.
While this situation is concerning, I am confident the CCG will provide the leadership needed at this time to improve the practice and bring an end to the ongoing saga patients have experienced when trying to secure an appointment. This has been unacceptable for too long and we must now expect these issues to be addressed and all necessary action taken.
I hope CQC are looking closely at Bath Lodge Surgery also which has also been
run into the ground by IMH. Why this surgery is not already in special measures
is amazing. The CCG should be looking closely at both surgeries and terminating
the contract at both.
The turnover of GPs at this Surgery over the last couple of years has been astonishing. I have had three different GPs in the last two-three years which is totally unacceptable. Trying to get an appointment is beyond impossible and the number of times repeat prescriptions are not been signed-off by GPs via the on-site Pharmacy is worrying. The management of this Surgery is completely inept and it needs to have it’s contract terminated immediately. No second/third chances as the continuing issues show that they are totally incapable of running a Surgery.
I have been a patient for over 30 years how things have changed gone completely downhill! I used to know my Dr. Now you are lucky to get an appointment at All they offer you a nurse practitioner appointment it’s just awful I’m going to change they are not look after me with m e at all! When I saw a nurse practitioner she was sullen faced and not welcoming told me I was lucky I didn’t get the Flu lol what on earth had happened to this practice I’ve never seen my doctor and been ill for weeks
