Mount Pleasant Level Crossing

It is disappointing to hear of yet another incident on the Mount Pleasant level crossing with someone foolishly placing themselves and many other people in danger.

We all recognise the inconvenience of being stopped at this crossing, although people should not need to be reminded of the risks of ignoring the warnings here.

With the increase in residential development at Meridian Waterside, it is appropriate for Network Rail and the council to review how effective the barriers and signage are and look at whether this could be made safer.

The time the barriers are down when no train passes are too long these should be reviewed as it causes a back log of traffic in both directions adding to congestion and pollution something the train company’s don’t get chraged for unlike the once again hard pressed motorist is likely to get stung for in the future

Completely agree with David, it’s ridiculous how long these barriers are down for with no trains passing. And when they do, they are going around 10-20mph. Just tonight I waited 15 minutes at this stupid crossing with 4 trains going past. Spent the best part of 3 mins waiting between trains. 15 seconds after the barriers opened, the amber light came on warning of it shutting again. I have to say I don’t blame people for being impatient when nothing is being done about it.
