You seem to imply noboby believes leaving the EU will benefit Southampton. You may be a bit harsh on yourself here. It is true no doubt that the prospective trade deals you indicate which are all probably years away at best, may be no better than the ones we already have through the EU. Southampton may possibly benefit from Brexit but should we be looking only at our own city? What if Brexit were to be of huge benefit to Southampton but great loss for the rest of the UK? How would you feel about that?

You can scale that same question up or down; at what point to you draw the line?

I am sorry, but this is just hypothetical at best, nonsense at worst. Trade deals with parties yet to be identified will bring trade benefits once negotiated and in place, when is that likely to be, a decade hence from now? It appears that ideolody is supplanting the cooler more pragmatic outlook us Brits were once renowned for.
