Yesterday, Boris Johnson was elected to lead the Conservative Party. Later this afternoon, he will go to the Palace where Her Majesty the Queen will ask him to form a Government.
One or two important issues to note. Over half of Conservative MPs, 160 in total, voted to put Boris Johnson onto the last two with Jeremy Hunt, who got through with the support of 77 MPs. 87.4% of Party members took part in the final round, and Boris secured 66% of those who voted.
It is no secret that I supported Jeremy Hunt. But as a loyal member of the Conservative Party, I will give Boris Johnson my complete support as leader of our party and Prime Minister of our country.
In the coming days, Boris Johnson will form his Cabinet and Government. One thing I do know about Boris Johnson is his ability to surround himself with excellent people, and to delegate.
Boris may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I hope, like me, people will give him a chance to see what he can do as Prime Minister.
