I was pleased to visit the Thames Tideway tunnel which will work as a capture and store for raw sewage and rainwater that currently overflows when the London sewerage system cannot cope. It’s a really impressive project and one that is vitally needed to reduce the environmental impact from untreated dirty water.
A similar scheme is underway currently in Woolston, where an underground storm tank is being built to store excess dirty water, at times of pressure on the sewerage system, such as during storms. This is due to be completed in Autumn 2024.
