The 1st June marks the first day of the 37th annual Volunteers’ Week. This takes place during the UK’s Month of Community and is a celebration of the contribution and dedication of millions of volunteers who give up their time to help and improve other peoples lives.

Volunteers are always at the centre of every community and across Southampton volunteers do a fantastic job within charities, organisations and community groups. During an incredibly difficult year, people from all walks of life around the UK have volunteered and made a huge difference to their communities.

We must ensure that all the volunteers across the country get the recognition that they deserve. That is why, on this annual Volunteers’ Week, we can all say thank you and come together to show our appreciation for these incredible people.
