I am delighted that the next stage of the Government’s roadmap plan has arrived. The success of the UK vaccine rollout, fall in cases and close monitoring of new variants has allowed the Government to unlock and reduce the number of coronavirus restrictions on our lives.

Today’s relaxation of the rules will introduce indoor activities, larger groups and more social contact giving many businesses across Southampton a vital lifeline after such a difficult year. From today across England the hospitality sector can unlock and we can all enjoy a meal or drink indoors.

As with all decisions on easing restrictions the Government will continue to monitor cases, data and new variants to ensure we move on and continue on the roadmap. Remember to check the current guidance and continue to adhere to the rules in place.
