The Prime Minister announced today a ten-point plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, covering clean energy, transport and nature. This will create and support up to 250,000 highly-skilled jobs and allow us to end our contribution to climate change by 2050.
This is really good news for Southampton. The proposals include bespoke support for projects to help deliver zero-emission ships and planes whilst accelerating the transition to electric cars. It is measures like these which will help to improve air quality whilst helping to modernise the industry which the city depends on.
No government before has announced such a far-reaching plan to reduce emissions whilst at the same time supporting new jobs. This announcement is positive news for Southampton as we look ahead to the future.
