The Government has announced that the University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust will receive an additional £9M in extra funding to expand  A&E capacity this winter.

Staff in the NHS and providing care for people in homes and in the community have worked tirelessly over recent months. They have been heroic in helping our community to get through the coronavirus pandemic. This extra £9M will allow A&E services to be upgraded so that we are in the best possible position to meet any challenges that the winter months may bring.

 The NHS has always been my top priority. I was re-elected in December on a promise to deliver record NHS investment and improve the quality of care. I am delighted to see the Government delivering on this.
