It is great news that Southampton is receiving an additional £550,000 for measures to crack down on crime in the city. The money is coming in the form of a special grant from the Home Office to tackle issues such as burglary and robbery.

This funding is in addition to the measures which will see 450 new police officers being recruited across the region and the reopening of Bitterne Police Station to make space for more police in our community.

I am pleased to see the Government delivering on its pledge to provide additional police funding and resource to help keep us all safe and secure.
