I was shocked to learn that in my constituency 7,087 people aged over 45 live with osteoarthritis of the knee, 4,218 people aged over 45 live with osteoarthritis of the hip, and 16,671 live with back pain. Too many people locally are living with daily pain, fatigue, and isolation. This is unacceptable. People living with these conditions must have their needs recognised, which is why I have pledged to be an Arthritis Champion and speak up in Parliament for people with arthritis.
I am living with arthritis of spine, hip(made worse by a botched hip operation, which took away my ability to walk properly), knee, ankle and shoulder. G P doesn’t offer anything other than pills but, finally I got referred to a lovely lady who is treating my shoulder and has referred me to the pain clinic. All this has led to me being very isolated, depressed and obese and therefore very unfit.
I am so glad that someone is going to speak up for us. I am lucky I have a wonderful husband, without him I don’t think I would be here, others are not so lucky and have to fend for themselves, any help would be welcome.
I have been paying for a chiropractor for my back and knees for over 30 years, I have recently been trying acupuncture for my knees. I must have saved the health service thousands but when I told the Doctor that I could hardly breath while on an appointment for something more minor she did not even comment. I had already had my one condition appointment. I am over 70 so it is obviously time I just died and stopped bothering the NHS
