Council gets its priorities wrong View Larger Image The council has money to serve notices on residents when they’ve done nothing wrong but claim they have none to save respite centres or keep libraries open. Our house was a wreck when we bought it and we have spent all our money over the years improving it. It needs constant maintenance to keep it in good order. We don’t have holidays or go out very much but we do love our house. The rates go up and up, several years ago we lost the OAP discount and the rates went up all in one year and the councils answer was to spread our payments to 12 months instead of 10. I don’t think our council does much at all for OAPs and they don’t care. The health care is terrible, when you get to 70 you might as well just die because you are made to feel a bother to everybody. It is no good saying Southampton is a labour council so it’s all their fault, everybody has to take responsibility if you are a council member. I am disenchanted by Southampton council. Elaine Fullaway 24 July 2018 at 5:12 pm - Reply We already have to pay to enter our City because everyone has to pay to PARK. So what is this if it is not paying to enter our City:? I do a lot of my shopping in Bitterne shopping centre and I do not have to pay to park near that shopping centre and it a wonderful shopping centre. Also I travel to the Big Tesco’s just off Portsmouth Road. Tesco have their own car park which does not charge so why go shopping in Southampton ever when there are good shopping facilities in such good areas as Bitterne to do ones shopping in. d kearley 6 November 2018 at 4:24 pm - Reply Well just another point about this labour council they have now decided to charge disabled people to park this is a disgrace how much do they think it will raise all it will mean is disabled people will suffer and likely park on street where its free in less than ideal places Trevor Walden 10 June 2019 at 11:40 am - Reply A lower footfall in City Centres is because there are better, ad cheaper, shops in the suburbs. Reduce Central Zone Rates on Businesses or lose them all. Leave A Comment Cancel replyComment Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
