This afternoon I was pleased to meet with my constituent Paula who works as a Specialist Nurse Manager within University Hospital Southampton. I found this meeting particularly useful as an opportunity to discuss the difficulties faced by those on the frontline in our NHS.

Paula was supported by her colleague Ged from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). The RCN have been running a campaign to bring an end to the public sector one percent pay cap.

Paula and Ged made a convincing case for why this should come to an end and I was pleased to confirm with them that I support the ending of this pay cap. I also believe Nurses deserve a fair pay rise, which will hopefully come forward in the coming months as a recommendation from the independent NHS pay review body.
