Professor of Experimental Neuroimmunology Jessica Teeling will be swapping her lab coat for legislation as part of a pairing scheme run by the Royal Society that will see her shadowing me this week.
As well as finding out about the life of an MP she will attend seminars and panel discussions about how scientific evidence is used in policy-making. She will also sit in on a mock Select Committee.
The visit will give Professor Teeling a behind-the-scenes insight into how policy is formed and how her research into systemic inflammation and dementia can be used to make evidence-based decisions.
